PTA Co-Presidents’ Message

Can you believe it’s time for March Madness! This usually refers to basketball but it seems like “madness” to us that the school year is passing so quickly and spring is almost here. Well, we are hoping spring is almost here since the weather we have been having certainly brings madness to mind.

Last month’s screening of Race to Nowhere was the beginning of what we hope to be a continuing and constructive conversation about the future of education for our children. We know many of you were unable to attend the screening who had wished to. We are discussing when we can provide additional screenings as well other ways we can be involved in stopping what many families feel to be the “madness” of the current educational system.

On a lighter note, this month – thanks to your generosity – the PTA was able to provide Syre staff with a 2nd opportunity for grants. We provided additional funds for classroom learning supplies and activities, gym equipment, non-fiction books for the library, resources for our BRITE program as well as field trip assistance for several classes. We also helped Patrol purchase new flags, and new recycling bins and other supplies for the school. This was a great sort of “madness” that we were able to do so much because of you.

We will see you on Thursday, March 8th for our annual Multicultural Fair, 6:00-8:00 in the cafeteria/gym. It’s shaping up to be quite the fun family event!

Go Wildcats!
